For the past few years, employees at Nash UNC Health Care were not able to receive affordable care at Nash County’s largest medical practice, but that situation will change beginning on Saturday.

A new agreement between Nash UNC Health Care and the Boice-Willis Clinic will allow employees of Nash UNC Health Care who are on their health benefit network to access services at the Boice-Willis Clinic at Domestic Tier, or TIer 1, rates, with the best coverage option.

“Nash UNC Health Care employees who are covered with our health benefits will now have even more local providers in the Domestic Tier, which means that primary care visits, pediatric visits and specialty visits will all be covered under Tier 1 benefits with greater cost savings to employees,” Katie Davison, executive director of Human Resources for Nash UNC Health Care, said in a press release.

Boice-Willis Clinic had previously been Tier II, which was in-network but at a higher out-of-pocket cost to employees. Boice-Willis Clinic now joins other local providers in Tier 1 such as Rocky Mount Family Medical, Eastern NC Medical Group, Nash OB GYN Associates, Nash X-Ray Associates and others, the release said.

Boice-Willis Clinic is a multi-disciplinary practice based in Nash County with more than 74 medical providers in a wide range of medical specialty fields.

Dr. Martha Chesnutt, chief medical officer and interim CEO of Boice-Willis Clinic, said the partnership is mutually beneficial.

“Boice-Willis Clinic providers are excited to partner with Nash UNC to provide a network of high quality comprehensive care to their employees at lower out-of-pocket costs,” Chesnutt said in the press release from the hospital.

Davison said the change is a welcome one for hospital employees.

“We would like to thank Dr. Martha Chestnutt and her team for their partnership in helping to make this change happen. We are excited for the opportunity to keep health care local and affordable for our employees and their families,” Davison said.

Nash UNC’s health insurance covers a total of 2,541 employees and dependents, according to Dorsey Tobias, director of marketing and communications for Nash UNC Health Care.
