Nash UNC Welcomes New Medical Director of Hospitalist Program

Nash UNC Health Care is pleased to welcome Dr. George Kasarala as the new Hospitalist Medical Director.

The hospitalist program at Nash UNC is partnered with Sound Physicians.  Hospitalists are medical providers who specialize in the comprehensive care of the hospitalized patient with 24/7 in-house coverage, guiding the patient’s care and treatment during their hospital stay.  Hospitalists work with the patient’s primary care provider to coordinate in-hospital medical care as well as follow-up treatment.

“I am excited to work with the hospitalists and full team at Nash UNC Health Care to support the hospital’s mission of providing superior quality health care for this community.  I am looking forward to collaborating with Nash UNC’s medical staff, primary care providers in the community, nursing teams and support staff to improve the full spectrum of care for our patients,” Dr. Kasarala said.

Kasarala has served as a hospitalist in a variety of settings since 2012, most recently with Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. He previously served as the Associate Program Director of the Apogee Hospitalist program in Elkhart, IN.“We believe Dr. Kasarala’s leadership will help us continue to improve our medical services, especially by focusing on improving communication between doctors and our patients and being attentive to our patients’ needs,” said Nash UNC president and CEO Dr. L. Lee Isley.  “We look forward to seeing the impact Dr. Kasarala will have on our organization and community as a whole.”

Kasarala is board certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He also holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Findlay in Ohio. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Saint Louis University. Dr. Kasarala and his wife have two children.  Dr. Kasarala started his new role on July 24th.
