UNC Health Nash to Open New Urgent Care Clinic October 14 in Rocky Mount
UNC Health Nash is set to open a new urgent care clinic on October 14 located at 550 N. Winstead Avenue in Rocky Mount, which is situated at the entrance to the UNC Nash campus. The new clinic is part of UNC Nash’s ongoing commitment to increasing access to quality healthcare services in Nash County and the surrounding region.
“The opening of the UNC Health Nash Urgent Care Clinic marks an important step in our strategic plan to expand access to care and strengthen our role as a leading healthcare provider in the region,” said Dr. L. Lee Isley, president and CEO of UNC Health Nash. “The urgent care clinic aligns with our commitment to provide our community with a variety of high quality healthcare services, right here at home.”
Open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. starting October 14, the UNC Health Nash Urgent Care Clinic will offer medical care for patients aged six months and older. The urgent care clinic’s extended hours—including weekends—will provide a flexible option for patients who might otherwise struggle to find treatment outside of typical business hours, giving community members expanded access to medical services without disrupting their schedules. Staffed by an on-site Medical Provider, Certified Medical Assistants, Medical Office Assistants and Radiology Technologists, patients will be offered professional, comprehensive and high quality care at the clinic.
Designed to serve those needing immediate attention for non-life-threatening conditions, such as minor cuts, sprains, cold and flu symptoms and other common ailments, the facility will provide a timesaving, cost-effective alternative for individuals seeking same-day treatment outside of the emergency department.
Providing an urgent care option at UNC Health Nash should also help reduce wait times in the emergency department and allow for more efficient patient flow and operations. This is in addition to the Emergency Department entrance currently under construction for the same reason. That project is designed to create new patient care areas that will allow for more patient privacy, increased efficiency in triaging and treating patients and expanded space to treat more patients at one time. Details regarding those improvements will be shared as construction nears completion.
Urgent care patients will be seen on a walk-in basis as the clinic works to finalize the implementation of an online scheduling system, which will launch shortly after opening. Once operational, this system will provide an additional layer of convenience, allowing patients to book appointments ahead of time.
To support a diverse range of community needs, the clinic will accept all payment types, and services will be available regardless of insurance status. While health insurance is not mandatory, payment will be required at the time of service. This approach will help ensure that patients can access treatment without facing unnecessary barriers.
“We are excited to offer this new service to our community,” said Daymeyun Johnson, Clinical Manager at UNC Health Nash Urgent Care. “Clinic patients will receive the same compassionate, reliable care that UNC Health Nash is known for, now in a specialized urgent care environment. We are eager to see how this new clinic will impact the health and wellbeing of our community.”
