UNC Health Nash Named Among Nation’s Top Hospitals by The Leapfrog Group
UNC Health Nash has once again been honored as one of the nation’s top hospitals. The Leapfrog Group—a national nonprofit organization that evaluates hospital performance—released its annual list of Top Hospitals this week, which is one of the most competitive and prestigious recognitions for excellence in hospital patient safety and quality of care.
According to Leapfrog, this designation reflects the organization’s continued commitment to exceptional care and the highest standards of safety. UNC Health Nash is among a select group of hospitals nationwide to earn this distinction out of approximately 2,400 eligible facilities, with only 52 hospitals in the nation qualifying for the honor. This recognition is in addition to the organization’s recent Leapfrog “A” Safety Grade, reaffirming UNC Health Nash’s sustained excellence in providing quality care.
Leapfrog “Top Hospitals” are selected based on rigorous performance metrics, including infection prevention, medication safety, surgical outcomes, maternity care, and other key indicators that are important to patients and their families.

UNC Health Nash’s recognition as a Top Hospital adds to a year marked by major quality achievements, including designation as an AORN Center of Excellence in Surgical Safety: Prevention of Retained Surgical Items, a third consecutive Pathway to Nursing Excellence® re-designation, and national recognitions from U.S. News & World Report for “High Performing” care in heart failure, stroke and maternity care.
