UNC Health Nash Welcomes New Members to the Board of Commissioners

The UNC Health Nash Board of Commissioners welcomed two new members at its January meeting. Allen Corbett III and Stephen Barnes were sworn in during the meeting, while board member and Secretary Damian Tucker officially concluded his nine-year term. Current board member Kristen Brabble assumed the open role of Secretary after Tucker’s departure.

“Our board of commissioners give so much of their time and talents to help guide the strategic direction for UNC Health Nash,” said Dr. L. Lee Isley, President and CEO of UNC Health Nash. “We are excited to add Mr. Corbett and Mr. Barnes to our highly engaged board, and look forward to having them help us continue to provide the best care possible for our community. We also thank Mr. Tucker for his committed service to our board and community over the last nine years, and congratulate Mrs. Brabble on stepping into her new role as board Secretary.”

Corbett is Senior Vice President and Area Manager at Southern Bank, where he has built a 15-year career. A Wilson County native, he earned a Bachelor’s of Business and Sports Management from Barton College and graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University. Now residing in Middlesex, he has been a Nash County resident for seven years and is active in community service, including his role as an elder and finance committee member at MidPoint Church.

Barnes, a Rocky Mount native and 1977 Rocky Mount High School graduate, earned a BSBA of Accounting from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. After starting his career with E&W (now E&Y), he joined Harrison & Judge in 1983, which later merged into RSM US LLP. Over a span of 37 years at RSM, he provided assurance, tax services, and business advice to healthcare entities, including a medical clinic, hospice, and Nash Health Care Systems Pension Plans, with expertise in third-party reimbursements and benefit plans. He has served as a board member and treasurer for various local organizations (such as the Rocky Mount Chamber of Commerce and the Nash-Rocky Mount Rotary Club), and is currently a deacon of finance at Christ Covenant Church in Rocky Mount.
